Etihad Airways Soars with 5.7 Million Passengers in Early 2024

Etihad Airways has announced a significant achievement in its operations, having transported approximately 5.7 million passengers in just the first four months of 2024. This impressive figure was disclosed during a statement released by the airline on Tuesday, May 14, highlighting its performance and expansion efforts.

In April alone, Etihad Airways carried over 1.4 million passengers, maintaining an average passenger load factor of 84 percent. This performance indicator reflects the proportion of available seating capacity that is filled with passengers, showcasing the airline’s efficiency in utilizing its flight resources.

The growth trajectory of Etihad Airways is further exemplified by a 39 percent year-on-year increase in customer numbers in April 2024, compared to the same period in 2023. Additionally, the airline reported a 4 percent rise in its load factor year-on-year, despite an increase in capacity, which indicates strong and growing demand for its services.

Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, expressed optimism about the airline’s progress, noting, “Our year-to-date (YTD) passenger figures at 5.7 million are 41 percent higher than at YTD April 2023.” He also highlighted that the strong performance in the first quarter of 2024 matched the total net income for the entire previous fiscal year, underscoring the airline’s robust financial health and operational success.

Etihad Airways has also been expanding its fleet and network. The fleet now stands at 89 aircraft, serving 68 destinations worldwide. As part of its strategy to enhance customer experience and meet rising demand, the airline reintroduced its popular A380 on the New York route in April and announced plans to deploy the aircraft on flights to Paris starting November 1st.

This expansion and strong operational performance reflect Etihad Airways’ commitment to growth and its ability to adapt to dynamic market conditions, ensuring that it remains a key player in the global aviation industry.
