Samsung, the global technology leader, is set to usher in a new era of mobile technology by equipping more of its flagship devices, including the Fold and Flip series, with cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Expected to commence in the first half of this year, this initiative marks a significant leap in Samsung’s product evolution.
Fadi Abu Shamat, Head of the Mobile eXperience Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics, shared his excitement in an interview with Khaleej Times. “The launch of the S24, the first AI-enabled smartphone, is as much a milestone as when we moved from feature phones to smartphones, or the introduction of the S Pen with the S series,” he said. Shamat emphasized that the S24 is just the beginning, with many more AI-powered devices in the pipeline.
The introduction of AI into Samsung’s mobile devices follows the success of the previous version, the S23, which Shamat described as one of the company’s most successful launches. He revealed a significant 42% year-over-year increase in pre-orders for the S24 over the S23’s figures in the Gulf.
DooHee Lee, President of Samsung Gulf Electronics, highlighted the transformative future that Galaxy AI promises. “Everyday experiences are elevated to extraordinary heights with the Galaxy S24 Series, introducing groundbreaking features that set new standards in mobile technology,” Lee said. He pointed out that the S24 series redefines communication and photography, offering an intelligent, immersive experience tailored to the diverse needs of users.
Additionally, Samsung is committed to increasing the sustainability of its products. Shamat explained the company’s responsibility as a global leader to preserve the environment. This commitment is evident in the use of recycled materials and the introduction of new materials, such as carbon and rare earth elements. One of the key initiatives Samsung has taken this year is to extend the lifespan of its flagship devices. The company is committed to providing seven years of security and operating system updates for the first time, ensuring that the S24 can handle future software demands and affirming Samsung’s dedication to environmental protection.
This move towards AI-enabled devices not only positions Samsung at the forefront of technological innovation but also aligns with the UAE’s vision to become a leading nation in AI by 2031. As Samsung continues to integrate AI into its mobile devices, it sets new benchmarks in the industry, offering users an advanced, intelligent experience while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability.
