Alat, a Saudi industrial electronics company, is taking a significant leap forward in technology enhancement by forging partnerships with four global technology giants: Softbank Group, Carrier Corporation, Dahua Technology, and Tahakom. This strategic move, announced in a press release on Tuesday, aligns with Saudi Vision 2030’s goal of reducing emissions and transitioning to zero-carbon manufacturing.
Committed to investing a substantial $100 billion (Dh367 billion) by 2030, Alat, a recently established company under the Public Investment Fund (PIF), is focusing on clean energy utilization and boosting the technological sector’s capabilities, tapping into Saudi Arabia’s rapidly evolving tech landscape.
Alat’s vision involves empowering the private sector through robust business systems and global partnerships, initially targeting the manufacturing of products across 34 categories within seven business units. These include semiconductors, smart devices, smart buildings, smart appliances, smart health, advanced industrials, and next-gen infrastructure.
Amit Midha, Global CEO of Alat, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing. “We will redefine sustainable manufacturing through our partnerships, focusing on harnessing Saudi Arabia’s clean energy resources. Our approach incorporates sustainability across all operations, leveraging AI technology and fourth industrial revolution technologies,” said Midha.
In collaboration with Softbank Group, Alat plans to establish a next-generation industrial automation business in Saudi Arabia, focusing on manufacturing advanced industrial robots. This joint venture, backed by an investment of up to USD 150 million (Dh550 million), aims to set up a fully automated manufacturing and engineering hub operational by December.
Carrier Corporation’s partnership with Alat is set to develop a state-of-the-art manufacturing and R&D facility in the Kingdom, focusing on decarbonizing building emissions and improving energy efficiency. This collaboration will produce advanced HVAC systems, creating over 5,000 local jobs.
Dahua Technology Ltd will join forces with Alat to establish Alat AIVisio Technology Co. Ltd., focusing on vision-centric products for safety and surveillance in intelligent cities, buildings, and enterprise applications. An investment of $200 million (Dh734 million) will support this venture.
Tahakom, a Saudi Technology and Security Comprehensive Control Company, will work with Alat to advance smart mobility and intelligent cities solutions, contributing to the realization of Saudi Arabia Vision 2030. This partnership will focus on solution designs, product specifications, R&D, and building technology roadmaps.
Alat’s ambitious projects and partnerships mark a significant step in Saudi Arabia’s journey towards becoming a global tech hub, in line with its Vision 2030 objectives.
