UAE Showcases Global Leadership at the 54th World Economic Forum in Davos

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced its dynamic participation in the 54th edition of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2024, scheduled to be held from 15th to 19th January in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. This year, the UAE’s delegation is marked by the presence of over 100 eminent personalities, including heads of national companies, corporate leaders, government officials, and senior business leaders, with a significant 80 percent representation from major national companies and the private sector.

The UAE’s robust participation in the forum is a reflection of the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to enhance the UAE’s role in global leadership across various fields of cooperation and partnership. This aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to reinforce the UAE’s significant role in the global economic landscape and facilitate the exchange of expertise for a sustainable national and global economy.

Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, emphasized the UAE’s commitment to the World Economic Forum. “Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE actively engages in international dialogues and knowledge exchange on various pivotal sectors. The economic sector, a key foundation for development, prosperity, and well-being, remains a primary focus for the UAE and the world,” he stated.

Al Gergawi added, “The UAE is eager to share its successful experiences at this significant forum, inspiring the creation of effective international practices and contributing to comprehensive, sustainable development for nations and governments.”

During the 2023 World Economic Forum, Al Gergawi joined the WEF Leadership Council, which comprises 13 members from various countries. This council acts as an institutional community and a sounding board for the Forum’s long-term strategy, promoting global cooperation and dialogue.

Moreover, in the 2022 edition of the Forum, the UAE and WEF signed a strategic partnership agreement, covering multiple levels of cooperation in innovation, technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and Fourth Industrial Revolution solutions.

The UAE’s participation in the World Economic Forum, spanning over 20 years, underscores its pioneering role in the global economy, positive transformations, and shaping the future. The forum provides an interactive platform for UAE’s major national companies and the private sector to exchange experiences and establish partnerships across various fields. It is an opportunity to strengthen global cooperation and endorse collaborative action between governments and institutions.

The theme of the 2024 forum, “Rebuilding Trust,” aims to gather over 3,000 influential figures, leaders, and decision-makers from the public and private sectors globally. The forum is a conduit for discussing global challenges, reviewing solutions and developments, and building partnerships across various economic and developmental sectors.

The outcomes of the forum are pivotal in supporting sustainable development and shaping solutions for key developmental challenges at the international level, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to being at the forefront of global economic discourse and cooperation.
